Spurts of Geekness

I love it when moments like this happen. I have moments where I am absouletly geeking out over certain things - some geekier than others - and I feel rushes of joy surge though my body. It is a brilliant moment. As of now, my current geek filled obsessions include:
  • Star Trek
Because the new movie is coming out May 8th, and also because The Next Generation fan favorite episodes are being replayed Mondays on Sci-Fi (or SyFy as it will be soon called >.< ), I have decided to pull out my VHS copy of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. This brought up even more levels of geek filled squee - and I have not even finsished watching the movie yet :D My Kirk/Spock has already come out (of course), and I am anticipating the day when I can see Karl Urban and Simon Pegg together, on the big screen, playing in Star Trek roles alongside two promising actors whom will fulfill the roles of Captin James T. Kirk and Spock.
  • Star Wars
Of course, thinking about Star Trek, made me think of Star Wars, and so I had to watch a few scenes from my favorite of the six movies, Revenge of The Sith. Yes, I know there are flaws, but the climatic ending, plus Anakin, in his Vader outfit, screaming "NOOOOOOOO!" just brings everything home - with help by the amazing film score, of course.
  • Fringe
I have only seen a couple episodes of this new show, but I must say that it is a very different (in a good way) cop show. If you like the paranormal, OR cop shows, then you must watch this. Very cool, Dunbar is awesome :D
  • Legend of The Seeker
Made by the people that created and produced Xena & Hercules: TLJ. If that wasn't enough, then consider this: it is based on a fantasy series by Terry Goodkind, and it has two very amazing actors (who are both very purrty as well), plus a WIZARD, who was in Return of The King (I think). So anyway, go watch it. ...Now :DThere are more of course, but I will post about them tomorrow :)

So I Think I Have a Borderline Personality...

Wow this fits me to to a tee, check it out: Borderline Personality Disorder

"
  • Alternating clinging and distancing behaviors (I Hate You, Don't Leave Me). Sometimes you want to be close to someone. But when you get close it feels TOO close and you feel like you have to get some space. This happens often.
  • Great difficulty trusting people and themselves. Early trust may have been shattered by people who were close to you.
  • Sensitivity to criticism or rejection.
  • Feeling of "needing" someone else to survive
  • Heavy need for affection and reassurance
  • Some people with BPD may have an unusually high degree of interpersonal sensitivity, insight and empathy "

The L Word - Jennifer Schecter drabbles

So last night I applied to the LJ RP [info]stedelweiss , which is a multi-fandom RP set in an insane asylum. One qualification for this RP was to post a two short drabbles about your character. Since mine was Jennifer Schecter, I thought I would share the drabbles here:
Third Person Drabble )

First Person )
I did get rejected from the RP, but I wanted to hear what my flist thought of my drabbles anyway. Tell me if you like them or not :)

Legend of The Seeker

The new Seeker episode was INSANE! (In a good way). But it contiunes to remind me of the Inheritance Cycle, especially since I just finished reading Brisingr last Friday (yes, finally!). Can't wait for the next episode! :D

Falling Into A Dream - Chapter 1

Title: Falling Into A Dream
Author: androbard1364
Fandom: The L Word
Characters: Shane McCutcheon, Jenny Schecter, Carmen de la Pica Morales, & more in later chapters
Pairings: Carmen/Jenny, Shane/Jenny, Alice/Dana. Possible pairings: Jenny/Dana (mostly just friendship in the beginning though...), Shane/Mark friendship
Rating: PG-13
Genres:
Warnings: Language, self-abuse, alcohol, fanon pairings, angst, AU
Summary: In an alternate universe season two, Shane is trying to hide her feelings from Jenny, while also fighting off Carmen's continuing advances at her. But when both her and Jenny finds Mark tape of the conversation Carmen has with Shane, where she confesses her love to Shane, can the three of them settle their differences during the cruise they go on with Alice and Dana? Or will their vacation turn into a nightmare? Continues past season two and changes a LOT of things about the show.
Disclaimer: Shane, Jenny, Carmen, and all other characters from The L Word are the property of Ilene Chaiken, Showtime, and any others that own them. The original characters and plot are the property of the author. The author is in no way associated with the owners, creators, or producers of The L Word, I am only borrowing the characters and their eccentric personalites to have a bit of fun - and to fix a few things that need fixin'. No copyright infringement is intended, and no harm is done. Everyone ends up happy, see? ;)
Story Notes: The beginning scene, which takes place in the circus, is supposed to be written by Jenny, as another one of those odd scenes we saw throughout Season Two. Sorry it's so weird, but hey, it's Jenny! Hahaha! Seriously though, the whole reason I started writing this fanfiction is because I did NOT like the way that season six portrayed Jenny, Shane, and especially the Shenny relationship as a whole. Their relationship is supposed to be based on this mutal understanding of one another, one that nobody else on the show has of them, and season six destroyed that. So, my remedy is to write an Alternate Universe fic! Another reason is that when watching Season Two, I had always hated how Carmen used Jenny to get close to Shane, and how Shane did not push her away, but instead she embraced Carmen and got together with her. I mean, I love Shane, but if she loved Jenny like she said she did, then she would not have let Carmen be around them. That's Ilene Chaiken's doing though, I suppose. She is the one writing  the show not me. But I'm going to stop this here before it gets too long... lol. Congrats if you made it this far! :D

Enjoy the story everyone :)

It Has Begun!

As all of my fellow The L Word fans on my flist know, I have a certain distaste for the way the show ended (check out my recent journal entry for more info). To begin the healing process, I have decided to undertake a large writing project: A Shenny AU novel-length story. It will take place near the end of Season Two, the day that Shane, Jenny, and Carmen leave to go on the cruise, and from then on I shall write the episodes... in the way that they were meant to be written. Heck, I might even try a way to bring back Dana. Let's just call it a huge fix up all of Ilene Chaiken's mistake fic work! If you want to read my story, I will be posting it here: http://fanfic.darkness-descends.net/viewuser.php?uid=619

Also, if you have any potential ideas for my fic, please leave them here. I would love to hear your comments! :D

Spamming Your Flist Once Again - But With Good Reason!

So many books are being made into movies these days, but only a handful of them are almost as good (or sometimes better) as the original material (Harry Potter movies 1-3 & the climax of 5, Girl, Interrupted, Memoirs of A Geisha). One notable exception is The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. This amazing novel (although short, is hilarious and insightul in content) reflects on Arthur Dent's journey through The Galaxy after his home planet is destroyed to make way for an inter-galatic highway.

And also, if you have ever wondered just how much of a geek you are, take the ultimate Geek Test. It won't dissapoint, I'm sure. :)

Did they take that from Xena?

There are a lot of things, large and small, I come across in the entertainment industry that I wonder if they used Xena as inspiration. For instance, today in U.S. History class, we finished watching Glory, a wonderful movie based on the African Americans fighting in the Civil War. One scene in particular stood out for me, the Battle of Ft. Wagner:
Glory - Ft. Wagner )
In this scene, the troops run across a large area of sand, while they are being shot at by cannonballs. They then take cover in the sanddunes, and once again continue to march onto the fort while being shot at by cannons.

The scene from Xena I am comparing this to, would of course be the scene from To Helicon And Back, where Gabrielle, as Amazon Queen, leads the Amazons, now a combined, yet small, nation across an empty field as they are being shot at by catupults (the rocks are on fire in Xena), and also archers are shooting arrows at them as well. While not as many people die in this scene, it is a lot more brutal in the deaths (such as the one Amazon running out after there was a pause in the firing, only to be shot at with a ton of arrows, and also be pounced by a flaming rock.) It is best if you watch it:
'To Helicon And Back' - Xena )
I couldn't find the actual scene, so you will have to make do with a video, sorry =/ Course, most Xena fans on my flist already have the DVD (I'm guessing) so you could pop it into your DVD player ;)

Drag Me To Hell - Sam Raimi Returns To Horror!

Not since Evil Dead has Sam Raimi's movies looked so exciting! I can't wait till May to see a REAL horror movie! Let's hope that this one will have the proper amount of odd humor and cool camera tricks in it as the Dead series did ;) And of course a cameo by Bruce Campbell...

My Dream Cast For Good Omens:
Aziphrale - Eddie Izzard
Crowley - Bruce Campbell <333
Anathema - Mia Kirshner

"I think I just threw up in my mouth..."

Really Ilene? REALLY? I can not even contrive a proper review of this horrible, HORRIBLE finale yet. It could take me days, WEEKS to repair the damage this episode has done to my mental state, not to mention the series as a whole. It's like watching a bad train wreck.

*pats Jenny on the head* Really, you deserved a lot better. I SHALL complete my L Word/Shenny AU novel/script!
